I learned that the 20th century war strategy were complex through trench warfare in WW1 to Guerrilla Warfare at Vietnam. This tactics were repeatably used over and over again. This impresses me because even using the same thing mostly works and help these wars on achieving victory. For example, the Vietnam War used guerrilla strategies to confuse their enemy if they were solders or not. Tactically, the guerrilla army would avoid any confrontation with large units of enemy troops, but seek and eliminate small groups of soldiers to minimize losses and exhaust the opposing force.
Another Example, in WW1 soldiers used trench warfare in the Western Front.Trench warfare is a form of land warfare using occupied fighting lines consisting largely of trenches, in which troops are significantly protected from the enemy's small arms fire and are substantially sheltered from artillery. In the face of modern warfare, digging in was standard practice by the start of WWI. To attack frontally was to court crippling losses, so an outflanking operation was the preferred method of attack against an entrenched enemy.
